A Case of Good Judgment
The Judgment Is Not Fun
Even a Bible-thumping holy-roller realizes that the topic of the judgment is a definite party stopper! Try it! The next time you're invited to a party or casual get-together, stand up, get everyone's attention and say, "Let's go around the room and see what each of us has to say about the judgment." After the flash of light and earthquake-like rumbling noise, you will be standing alone in a room full of knocked-over chairs and tables with wind howling through the open doors, windows and perhaps holes in walls made by escaping former friends. Not many people (not even Bible-thumping holy-rollers) think of the judgment as a light or uplifting topic. To be honest, the common conception is that the judgment means somebody's in trouble. Since nobody likes being in trouble, and since no one wants to start packing a bag for the trip to Hell, no one wants to talk about the judgment.
Could it be that we have the whole concept of judgment wrong? if we could somehow see that judgment is, in fact, a good thing, would it become a favorite party topic? Well, I'm not sure about the last question but it would surely change the way most people see God!
